Pachmayr HistoryFounded in 1929 by Frank Pachmayr, the company has earned the respect of shooters, law enforcement professionals and gunsmiths, alike. This is no surprise as the Pachmayr family already had 3 generations of custom gunsmithing experience when the company started. Frank Pachmayr learned the trade from his father and grandfather who were trained in the rigorous, old world school of German gunsmithing.
Initially the company marketed a wide variety of outdoor products as well as doing defense work during World War II. As time went on, the Pachmayr gunsmithing tradition inspired the direction of the company. 1949 saw the introduction of the first Pachmayr recoil pad. As the company grew, it expanded it’s role in the shooting sports by supplying gunsmiths and sportsmen with more styles of pads and superior gunsmithing tools. Pachmayr has designed and produced the most respected recoil pads available. The Deluxe White Line, the Triple Magnum, F250 and F325 and 750 Old English fields pads were all Pachmayr designs that remain popular today. Trap, skeet and sporting clays shooters have come to know the T550, D550 and SC100 with patented speed mount heel. In the 1980’s, came the famous Decelerator pad, and later the Decelerator XLT Ultrasoft, continuing to raise the bar on performance.
Pachmayr rubber handgun grips, introduced to the market in the early 1960’s, revolutionized the handgun market. Innovative, patented designs and materials have been the foundation of the grip line. The accomplishments of decades of innovation were recognized in 1986 when Frank Pachmayr was elected as one of the top ten Outstanding American Handgunners. Sportsmen, law enforcement professionals and gunsmiths have come to rely on their performance and quality.
Recoil pads and handgun grips using patented technology form the foundation of a line built on the idea that a product should not only perform well in reducing recoil, but improve your shooting, be easy to install and look good. As Pachmayr grew, the major firearms makers recognized the value of drawing on the company’s products and expertise to add value to the firearms they marketed. This close-knit working relationship with both gunmakers and stock makers continues today, 50 years after the introduction of Pachmayr's first recoil pad. In fact, recently, when Browning needed a radical new recoil pad for their rifles and shotguns, they turned to Pachmayr expertise and technology. The result was their new Inflex Recoil Pad.
Pachmayr joined Lyman in 1996 and still produces their products in Southern California, not far from their original location. Pachmayr continues to grow and expand by listening to their customers and developing new products to meet their needs, such as 2007’s line of recoil reducing grips and forends for the TC Encore and G2 Contender. In addition to recoil pads and handgun grips, Pachmayr offers many other accessory items for the gunsmith and sportsman including Pac-Skin, 1911 accessories, tool kits, snap caps and flush mount sling swivels.
Gunsmiths and hobbyists around the world have benefited from the experience designed into Pachmayr products and after seventy-five years still turn to Pachmayr first for the recoil pads, handgun grips, tools and accessories they need.
